Frederik Meijer Gardens
Job Type: Audio/Visual, Communications
Client Type: Public Works
Recently ranked in the top 100 most-visited art museums worldwide, Frederik Meijer Gardens has grown to become an international destination. Under the support of Fred and Lena Meijer, the facility was developed to created a legacy of lifelong learning, enjoyment, and a rich cultural experience for generations to come.
Parkway was contracted in 2008 to propose a site-wide system upgrade. After considering several companies, the Gardens selected Parkway to provide design and installation. The new system provides a site-wide, networked, expandable solution which includes audio routing, room combining, background music, emergency EVAC & paging, digital messaging, and self monitoring fault and error reporting. A custom designed graphic user interface allows the staff to configure, control, and monitor the entire facility from a single centralized computer. Local room control is accessed by wall-mounted wireless touch panels.
This complex installation had to be coordinated around the Garden’s busy schedule without any loss or cancellation of a single engagement. Since the original installation, Hearing Loop Systems (a division of Parkway) has incorporated inductive loop hearing assistance systems into all the large meeting spaces.
