GVSU Nursing Education Building at 500 Lafayette
Job Type: Power
Client Type: Education
The Medical Mile is booming in downtown Grand Rapids, and 500 Lafayette is rising above the I-196 corridor as the latest addition to medical educational buildings. A project of Grand Valley State University, 500 Lafayette is a 5-story, $37.5 million dollar nursing education building that’s aiming to be complete(d) in May of 2018. The project will provide classroom, laboratory and office space to support the College of Health Professions and the Kirkhoff College of Nursing.
Parkway has been contracted to install power to this facility, along with a fire alarm system and a backup generator. Originally a city block of residential homes, this site has been razed to provide the platform for this build. This location provides unique challenges, particularly with being conscientious of the residential neighbors, and the construction is operating in very tight quarters.
Parkway is pleased to have a strong continued relationship with GVSU, and is looking forward to the new and innovative projects GVSU is continuing to invest in. This LEED certified project will not only change the landscape of downtown Grand Rapids, but will continue the strong legacy of GVSU’s commitment to the area and to local businesses like ours.
