DeVos Convention Center

Job Type: Audio/Visual

Client Type:  Public Works

This premiere facility, nestled beside the picturesque riverfront in downtown Grand Rapids, offers a combination of meeting and exhibition space to accommodate a variety of events.  The convention center features a 162,000 square foot, column-free exhibit hall, a 40,000 square foot ballroom, 26 individual meeting rooms, and a 2400-seat performing arts theatre.

Construction and renovation of the old facility was completed in three phases from 2003-2005.  After a preliminary design review, Parkway was contracted to provide the design and installation of the audio system and the video distribution system for all three phases.  In 2011, Parkway designed and installed a new networked audio control system.  The audio network controls 128 audio feeds to more than 60 channels of amplification.  System control is provided by a centralized network interface or locally on room touch panels.

The project introduced the Parkway installation team to some new challenges to which they responded and completed. The project was completed within the schedule, scope and budget.
