First Congregational Church

Project Type: House of Worship
Location: Traverse City, MI
Services: Audio/Visual + Power

First Congregational Church of Traverse City reached out to us to help them design the remodel of the AV in the entire campus, which was also undergoing an architectural interior upgrade. We worked alongside them to come up with a building-wide plan to find the best audio and visual solutions for them.

The church uses three rooms for different services, the Fellowship Hall, the Chapel, and the main Sanctuary.

All three spaces need to have video streaming capabilities and they needed a central video room with audio broadcasting as well. Parkway implemented an SDI cabling infrastructure and Dante Audio networking to all three rooms which allowed the video to be routed to and from the broadcast room. We also installed all new Yamaha TF mixing consoles and stage racks which all talk to each other on the Dante audio network. The Broadcast mixing console can pull all the channels from any of the three rooms.

The fellowship room was re-designed and the stage was rotated from its original location. There was a huge challenge to get projection designed for the room and ultimately, we decided on an Absen Acclaim series 2.5mm 16’ x 9’ direct view LED screen mounted on the back wall of the stage. The wall really encompasses the stage and pulls the viewer into the content.

Along with the video and audio, we installed new house lighting from The Light Source. We installed 20 MP RGBW LED fixtures.

The room is also used as a youth room and so being able to change the color of the atmosphere in the room was a fun and versatile option. We also installed all new wall station controls and we used Pathway Connectivity products to provide the solution. A new Chamsys lighting console was also installed in the tech booth.

The main sanctuary also received a lighting upgrade. We installed all new Chauvet Professional lighting products. This included 910 FC Ellipsoidal front lighting, ParHex wash fixtures, and a new Chamsys lighting console.

Our Power Division provided all the electrical requirements for the renovations in both the Fellowship Hall and the Main Sanctuary. This included all the power for the house lighting, theatrical lighting, LED wall power, stage pocket power, and all the dimming equipment.
