Holland Christian Absen LED Wall

Project Type: Education

Location: Holland, MI

Services: Audio/Visual

We had the opportunity to work with Holland Christian as their audio/visual integrator for a new direct-view LED display for their main lecture hall. Holland Christian uses their lecture hall as their main teaching room for biblical studies taught by Dr. Ray Vander Laan. The leaders of the school wanted to have an immersive experience for the students to learn about the biblical text.

The room is beautifully built with imported stone from the quarries in Jerusalem. We were tasked with fitting the display into the current architecture. We decided that Absen would be the right choice for the job. With its 2.5” width, we could easily mount the display behind the current moving walls, which would act as protection when the display is not in use.

We installed an Absen Acclaim series LED direct view display with 1.5mm pixel pitch and a resolution of 3072 x 1728 pixels. The wall is 16 feet wide by 9 feet high with a total of 64 panels. For head end video processing and scaling, we installed a 4K Sprolink VF1 Pro with an expansion chassis filled with Novostar sending cards. Also paired with our Sprolink is a Crestron Presentation switcher to handle the 4 computer inputs scattered around the room. Crestron handles full control of all the video routing to the LED wall and to the 2 new confidence displays, as well as power sequencing, architectural lights, window shades, and moving door which protects the LED display. With the new video upgrade, we also installed 2 75” confidence monitor displays.

We have received numerous comments on how the display is already impacting students. We believe that this changes the classroom experience and draws the students into an amazing time of learning.
